How can I help my team stay focused and committed to meeting our goals?

This is a good one. First, I would encourage you to explore WHY the team is struggling to stay focused on committed. Is it a lack of clarity of the goals and their part in it? Is there a lack of understanding of why the goals are important (to the organization, team and then as individuals)? Is there a breakdown in trust between you and the team?


Many leaders struggle to take a really close look at the cause because it may mean having to acknowledge that the biggest issue might be them and not the team. As uncomfortable as that is, the good news is that once you acknowledge the issue you can fix it!


I also strongly recommend you have a Team Charter. A Team Charter is a game plan the team can follow. It is a shared agreement that clarifies your vision, expectations, goals and ensures each team member is aligned to the plan.
